Rietveld graduate

1. What are you currently working on?

“I have been stuck in China since the beginning of January due to the outbreak of the epidemic. In general, our life is following the authorities to resume normal life after easing long time quarantine restrictions, but nobody believes this epidemic will disappear so easily. My original plans have been disrupted, so I have not done anything according to the envisaged plan recently. I took this opportunity to learn systematically about 3D and video editing software. In this state of anxiety, it is difficult for me to create and develop some content that I initially thought, so I participate in some online activities and I created an episode of RietveldTV [see link in bio]."

2. What has changed for you now that most of us are working from home?

“It is difficult for me to imagine that all connections between people are pinned on the Internet. Whether it is necessities or spiritual supplies, I only need to acquire it by network resources, as face-to-face communication and contact are impossible. But I'm afraid that we will gradually adapt to this contactless communication method. As far as I am concerned, I reject such a strange state of "working from home." I want to go out; I want to experience the crowded subway; the friction between my body and surroundings, etc., makes me feel that I still exist."

3. And what is staying the same?

“People's basic needs for life have never changed."

4. Do you have a tip to make these isolating times a little but more joyful?

“I want to recommend Kate Lain's experimental movie and influence list Cabin Fever. You can watch the playlists in different sections according to your mood. Now due to the epidemic, I can only share it with everyone on the Internet. This list is fascinating. You can also choose what you want to see according to your taste. Here's the link.”
