The Large Glass department turns 50!

To celebrate this special occasion, The Large Glass department joined forces with Looiersgracht 60 to present the exhibition State of Transparency, a survey into the material - and lingual connotations of a common expression (25 May - 9 June). The exhibition opening concludes a two-day symposium and birthday party weekend at Gerrit Rietveld Academie.

Due to its transparency, glass has changed our vision on the world we live in. Glass and transparency have an inseparable influence on how we construct and organise our society. Transparent structures are claimed increasingly to provide insight into economic and political processes as well as to gain access to our private spheres.

Participating artists are Maria Barnas, Gwenneth Boelens, Ruta Butkute, Forensic Architecture, Mio Fujimaki, Jason Hendrik Hansma, Saskia Noor Van Imhoff, David Jablonowski, Katrin Korfmann, Arnout Meijer, Navid Nuur, Fahrettin Orenli, Jens Pfeifer, Laura Puska, Thomas Rentmeister, Judith Roux , Mirre Yayla Séur and Beny Wagner.
