First specialisation year
During the first year in the department, you will explore the expanded field of fashion, learn how to develop concepts and link these to specific contexts. Theory and practice are closely connected and inform each other continuously. Next to a conceptual approach, you will also engage in technical and practical processes including, textile technique lessons (in the textile workshop) and sewing and pattern making lessons (in the sewing workshop at the fashion department). Both individual as well as collaborative projects are part of the programme.
Second specialisation year
The second year is about reflecting on, deepening and taking ownership of your work and discovering your position in relation to the world as a critical maker and researcher. You will identify dynamics that can change the current world of fashion, and experiment with ways of relating to them. Your visual, critical and technical understanding and skills will be developed further. You will continue to conduct relevant theoretical and artistic research and learn how to incorporate this with your making processes. You will also do an internship or research trip. You will be supported in aligning this experience with your specific strengths, ambitions and interests.
Third specialisation year
In the final year, you will work on a final assignment and a self-formulated graduation project. In addition you will write a thesis on a subject of your choice, relating to your graduation project. You work independently and take a proactive attitude in working with your tutors and selected guest tutors. Your graduation project will be shown to the public in a variety of ways.
