Application for bachelor (full-time & part-time)
Extra admission round in August for entrance 2nd year 2020-2021
There is an extra admission round in August for 2nd (/3rd) year candidates in the full-time departments:
- Image & Language;
Do you want to apply still? Fill in your online request now (at least before 1 August), so we can check whether you meet our requirements of participation for this round! If so, you will be asked to submit a portfolio in our online portfolio machine, for assessment by the department.
In order to study at the Rietveld Academie, you must at least have a HAVO (senior general secondary education) or MBO (senior secondary vocational education) diploma at level 4, or equivalent qualifications, at level 4 of the EQF (European Qualifications Framework). You must also have sufficient artistic talent. During the admission procedure, the Rietveld Academie will determine whether you are suitable for the academy.
All our full-time bachelor's programmes take 4 years:
- Bachelor year 1 = 1st bachelor Basicyear;
- Bachelor year 2 = 1st department year;
- Bachelor year 3 = 2nd department year;
- Bachelor year 4 = 3rd and final department year.
NOTE: Our part-time bachelor's programmes take 5 years, because the Basicyear is spread over 2 years part-time.

Candidates who have studied at an art academy at bachelor level for at least 1 year, can apply for a higher course year.
