In order to study at the Rietveld Academie, you must at least have a HAVO (senior general secondary education) or MBO (senior secondary vocational education) diploma at level 4, or equivalent qualifications, at level 4 of the EQF (European Qualifications Framework). You must also have sufficient artistic talent. During the admission procedure, the Rietveld Academie will determine whether you are suitable for the academy.

August admission round for application bachelor 2017-2018

Application for the full-time Basicyear and for DOGtime 2017-2018 is closed. But it is still possible to apply for a higher year full-time at the departments:

Ceramics, Fashion, Fine Arts, Inter-Architecture, Jewellery and Photography, The Large Glass (and Beeld & Taal for Dutch-speaking candidates only).

Only EU/EEA candidates are eligible to apply for the extra admission round of 24 August 2017, if they have completed a first bachelor year of studies in fine arts/design (and if they have studied in a Dutch bachelor program for 0 to maximally 2 years), by sending an e-mail to apply[at], before 1 August, with:

  • a copy of your passport/ID-card;
  • A copy of proof of your completed first bachelor year of studies fine arts/design.

After processing of your mail, you will receive further information.

Application higher course year

Candidates who have studied at an art academy at bachelor level for at least 1 year, can apply for a higher course year.
