We are pleased to invite you to our annual open day taking place on Friday, 30 January 2026. For the first time, Rietveld Academie and Sandberg Instituut will host a joint open day, welcoming visitors interested in the bachelor and master programmes respectively.
The open day is your chance to visit the campus, meet staff and current students, join a guided tour, and check out the workshops and department spaces of both the BA and MA programmes.

During the Open Day, visitors can learn about Rietveld Academie's first year of the four-year bachelor’s programme (Basicyear), our 12 departments and the part-time bachelor’s programme, DOGtime. As well as workshops, performances and guided tours, you can have your portfolio evaluated by one of our teachers during a portfolio talk. Make sure you bring your portfolio with you! The portfolio talks are scheduled between 10.30 and 16.30, via pre-registration. Register for a portfolio talk here.
Visitors interested in master’s programmes are welcome to visit the Sandberg Instituut. There will be several guided tours throughout the day and presentations from the Theory Stairs with performances and information about the different courses and extra-curricular activities at the school. These presentations will be livestreamed for those attending remotely, there will be scheduled Zoom Q&A sessions with each department and an Instagram Livestream touring the academy. Due to the high level of interest in our previous online information sessions about DOGtime and the precourses, two extra sessions will be organised. You can join a Q&A session about the part-time Bachelor's degree programme, DOGtime, and you can also sign up for another Q&A session about the precourses, which will be held in English this time. Get to know more about studying at the academy during evening hours or about preparing for the Bachelor with the Orientation Course or the Preparatory Course.

The admission procedure for the Gerrit Rietveld Academie consists of two rounds. In the first admission round your portfolio will be assessed. From the beginning of November 2025, you can start your application in Studielink and then participate in the first admission round. After a positive assessment of your portfolio in the first admission round, you pass on to the second admission round: the entrance examination.
