School Family State is a documentary film about a group of graphic design students from the Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam and BHSAD in Moscow. Closely linked to her own biography, graphic designer Claudia Doms follows the diverse protagonists in their last year in art school and a year after graduation. The film reveals the unique mind set that exists in the isolated space that the art school provides, contrasted with the different pathways that follow graduation. It explores notions of privilege and compromise, steered by the micro context of the family up to the macro forces of geopolitical changes.
