Obscured Pieces
An installation of photographic prints where the viewer navigates through, re-enacting the movements of the camera. Being on the threshold of visibility, the images want to appear but are obscured by the material presence. The camera wandered around the corners of an Indonesian courtyard in search for murmurs of the past, present and possible futures. The opening of the shutter made a physical imprint of light on a negative, from these negatives the search is continued in the dark. Chunks of light sensitive paper are lit with projections, smeared with chemicals and covered with enlarged negatives. Constantly being in play with the letting through and blocking of light. Layers of video’s taken with a smartphone mingling with analogue material that take a lot of physical afford to occur, appearing and dissolving into darkness again.
