'‘OPSIS’ derived from Greek, meaning eyesight, appearance or spectacle — presents as a prelude to a forthcoming periodical publication. ISSUE #0 attempts to unite multiple archives and contributions revolving around a singular historical moment. Dated 1951, a photograph is taken by Jack Burns in a train station in Edirne, Turkey depicting a group of Bulgarian refugees at a border station, all dressed in fur coats. one of the only visual records of the forced explusion of the Bulgarian Muslim population (often known as ‘Bulgarian Turks’). This moment foreshadows the 320,000+ people were expelled to Turkey, in the summer of 1989. Through the resurfacing of documentation and materiality, Hasan Halilov instigates a thorough glimpse in to a particular garment, confronting his recurring fixations. Given the gravity of the topic of ISSUE #0, Hasan questions how the weight can be encapsulated and built upon the gleam of a Magazine.
