Meeuw is expelled from paradise when she stares too hard into the mouth of the S.U.N, three headed, authoritarian ruler of the sky. She falls down to Amsterdam, and flightless, rightless, fighting full, hatches a revenge plan in league with the beguiling moon.
Seagulls, snack-bars, bakfietsen, night shops; the magical, the transformative, the epic happens under our noses. We are our own gods, our own celestial bodies, and we need to feed our culture with legends that we have built.
Will Meeuw fly again? Can she dodge the surveillance cameras? Who will triumph in the age-old battle between night and day? Shifra OsorioWhewell is part of Rietveld Review(ed) 2021. Nine graduates were chosen by an independent, external committee during the Graduation Show 2021 to reflect on the Graduation Show as a whole and to signal current tendencies and themes within the exhibition. They selected projects by graduating students that supported these observations. These graduates have been given the opportunity to show new work to a new audience in the academic year of 2021/2022.
