Thesis: Mnemonic Devices

These works and this collection draws from the aging of physical surroundings and the traces left through interaction. By elevating signs of wear, stains, and deformation to markers of relevance, I seek to uncover a dialogue between maker, garment, and wearer. Textiles become recordings of unconscious proceedings—silent witnesses absorbing presence.

Their gradual mutability reflects our own evanescence, functioning as a leitmotif for introspection. However, garments do not only take shape, they also impose it by structuring posture and gesture. Their material vulnerability carries the imprint of lived experience and resists obsolescence. By considering garments as mnemonic devices, I aim to explore the physiological, psychological, and emotional impact of clothing.
