The installation is inspired by the intriguing figure of ‘The Evil Scientist’, a character that continuously appears in horror-stories, and is one of the few non-paranormal characters in the genre. What makes this character so unsettling is not supernatural power, but a dangerous intellect driven by unholy motives. What makes the story of ‘The Evil Scientist’ even more eerie is that it is also a character that is not unlikely to exist in the real world.
The fascination with the scientific genius raises the question: What happens when the pursuit of science loses its innocence? When innovation is no longer driven by curiosity or passion, but by obsession, ambition, or unethical desire and science for that reason crosses a moral threshold.
