Thesis: Fluid Folklore: the community ahead
Fluid Folklore is an installation that speaks about a moment of history in the North of Spain when silence was an unwritten rule. It revolves around the hidden storytelling taking place throughout the 20th century in social cohesion spaces of assembly where migrants, the working-class and minorities gathered. This history was transmitted orally until 2021, when it first started being collected into an archive. The installation attempts to assemble a new visual language for this suppressed collective memory. Fluid Folklore takes the form of a space of assembly which embraces the role of the dissident voices, in contrast with the newspaper propaganda that diminishes them. This speculative storytelling sketches a future folklore where the lines of digital and analog language are blurred.
