My work is in continuous dialogue with femininity and its periphery. The garment and its function is always at the heart of this conversation. From there, she meticulously uses multiple methodologies, such as subversion and appropriation, to broaden the field of what femininity might be today. In this expanded field opposites attract: function-malfunction, erotic-bland. These clashes give us illusions which lead to new erotic fantasies. In my latest project I deliberately implements the “wardrobe malfunction”. The illusion of intimacy and (in)spontaneity is used to retell the narrative surrounding sensuality. While more global questions about the function of the garment itself are at play: to hide, to dress, to show.
