Thesis: Between Feathers and Flesh: Animals, Art, and the Evolving Human Gaze
"Feathered Dreams" is a series of paintings depicting the relationships, dialogues, and tensions between people, animals, and the environment. By alienating everyday objects, amplifying fleeting moments, and employing color schemes such as inspired by animal vision, I seek to disrupt familiar narratives, create scenes that blur the boundaries between dream and reality, and spark curiosity, empathy, and a deeper awareness of our interconnected existence.
A frequently recurring motif in my art is birds. As a lifelong bird keeper, I am fascinated by their intelligence, vitality, and intricate coexistence with humans. In my works, I explore possibilities for illustrating birds as metaphors or symbols for a more complete perception of reality.
