Jette Kelholt

'Jette Kelholt’s sculptures are an assemblage of an abundant collection of found materials. Constructed from objects that once served a function, her machine-like sculptures invoke the presence of non-functionality, pushing such structures to act as signs rather than operators. Intended to be read like a technical drawing, she constructs the inner mechanisms of an apparatus, created as architectural spaces that have failed to serve a purpose. Failure in itself is an important factor in her work, where she deliberately creates constructions that could easily come undone and temporarily lose their stability. And giving her structures individual names like the separate parts of a diagram adds to their poetic function as opposed to merely replicating reality.
