The installation "Fossile Mary" depicts a hypothetical future scenario for the Cervaiole marble mine in Italy through a scale cardboard model, two marble detail models, and a section drawing.
These pieces investigate the idea of using the marble mining process to produce places that can be used.
The excavation might be planned in order to give the mine a new purpose and program after it is exploited.
The proposal consists of a sanctuary excavated into the mountainside and a trail leading there from the quarry's entrance.
To protect what is left of the marble mountain, the establishment of such a sanctuary would mean the end of the extraction process.
