Work, school, dance, sleep

WSDS (Work, school, dance, sleep) tells the story of a small group of students, successively in the shape of a text, a performance, and a film.

My work consisted in this: I first wrote a script made of drawings, phrases, situations. Then I gathered five students to play the characters. Finally I developed a performative work that was the base for the film I shot afterwards.                                   The shape evolves, but the story never changes: A few students get together during a break. There is a lot of noise around, a lot of movement. During the short time they have in common, they tell each other about their respective day, they argue, they fight, they dance and finally, they take the time to rest before going back their separate ways...

WSDS (Work, school, dance, sleep) raconte l'histoire d'un petit groupe d'étudiants, successivement sous forme de texte, puis de texte joué, puis en film. L'enjeu du projet reposait sur le récit d'une histoire en trois étapes: texte / texte joué (comme on adapte une pièce de théâtre) / et adaptation en film (comme on adapte un texte à l'écran).

Mon travail de diplôme a donc fonctionné de cette manière, j'ai d'abord produit un script fait de dessins, de phrases, de situations. Puis j'ai réuni cinq étudiants pouvant incarner mes personnages. Et enfin j'ai travaillé à une forme performative qui a été la base du film que j'ai tourné plus tard.

Si la forme du récit à évolué, l'histoire elle, n'a pas changé: Quelques étudiants se retrouvent pendant un temps mort dans leur journée. Autour d'eux il y a beaucoup de bruit, beaucoup de flux. Sur le peu de temps qu'ils ont en commun, ils se racontent des morceaux de leur journée respective, ils discutent, ils se battent, ils dansent, et ils profitent de se reposer avant de repartir chacun de leur côté...
