Shreya de Souza named new Photographer in Residence

Shreya de Souza will be Photographer in Residence for the upcoming academic year 2020-2021 at the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences (AUAS). In this role, she will create photographs for special occasions. The artist will also be offered an opportunity to exhibit her work on campus. De Souza recently graduated from the Gerrit Rietveld Academie. 

Every year, a jury from the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences (Hogeschool van Amsterdam) visits the Photography department’s presentation during the Graduation Show of the Rietveld Academie. This year’s jury feels Shreya de Souza's work is respectful, joyful and disarming, and is impressed by the artistic expression in her work. 

As Photographer in Residence, De Souza is invited to photograph during special occasions over the course of one academic year. Several of these photos will become part of the Art Collection of the school. Administrators who step down or celebrate a major work anniversary are given an art photograph as a gift. The photographer will also be given the opportunity to present an exhibition in the buildings of the school.
