The Large Glass department turns 50!
On 24 May a celebratory symposium will be held at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie including an open atelier presentation by the current The Large Glass department students, followed by a birthday party at VanTetterode Glasstudio.
On 25 May the symposium will be concluded, leading us to the opening of the exhibition State of Transparency, a collaboration with and hosted by Looiersgracht 60.
Over the two days of symposium, the invited speakers will take performative, philosophical and pragmatic positions to think through the implications of transparency in the cultural discourse, the transparency of arts education, as well as the future of glass as an artistic medium.
The State of Transparency symposium programme includes Cissie Fu (Dean of Culture + Community, Emily Carr University), Dafna Kaffeman (Artist, Glass department alumnus), Jeroen Boomgaard (LAPS, Rietveld Academie), Richard Meitner, (Artist, former head of Glass department) and Tim Ingold (Chair of Social Anthropology at the University of Aberdeen, author).
TICKETS
Due to limited capacity, please book your symposium tickets online for € 30 (€ 40 at the door). One-day tickets are also available for € 20. The birthday party is included in this price, tickets for the party are € 10. Student admission is free upon validation of your student card at the door.
