Kennemerduinen

Media Acrylic paint on canvas

Marius van Zandwijk (DOGtime)

Marius van Zandwijk uses a specific geographical place to reflect on reality: Kennemerduinen. He has chosen this place because it is part of his own narrative of growing up: a sunny infinite dunescape. This is congruent with the main narrative of Kennemerduinen: a nature park in which we can enjoy outoors. At the same time the place contains other narratives, i.e., nature as a commodity made for our convenience, nature as a place for murder in the Second World War. As all reflects in the landscape, what do we put in the backdrop and what in the front?
