‘KUMUSTA KABAYAN?’

The belief in the sense of belonging ultimately emerges from one’s aptitude to identify the tacit signs addressed by peers. A community, and its very own signs, is therefore a ciphered entity.

‘KUMUSTA KABAYAN?’ is a publication collaboratively designed with fellow kabayans* of Amsterdam, within a community, over seas. It is an editorial surface which assemble dormant skills, traditional knowledges and identifiable aesthetics of the Overseas Filipino Workers’s community (OFW), mostly an exchange with impromptus calligraphers, illustrators, translators or interprets, story-tellers.

This first issue is one representation of these signs we display, an ongoing pilgrimage around the necessary fragments to replicate some semblance of the homeland.
