Rietveld Uncut is an annual presentation of the Gerrit Rietveld Academie. Within the Rietveld the process, from concept to work, is an important element throughout the full study. Rietveld Uncut sheds a light on this part of the study with a presentation of projects outside the academy walls.
From 2009 onwards Rietveld Uncut presentations have led to projects in which the experiment, contact with an external audience and a close relation to the subject have been of importance. Since 2009 the curators of Rietveld Uncut are Tarja Szaraniec and Tomas Adolfs.
Since 2014 Rietveld Uncut teams up with Studium Generale; departments and individual students develop projects in relation to the theoretic framework of Studium Generale. The collaboration of these programmes leads to a simultaneous conference week and exhibition, in which ‘the making and the thinking’ comes together.
Rietveld Uncut Exhibition 2020
Please note: In line with national policy relating to the coronavirus, the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam will be temporarily closed for visitors until March 31, 2020. This means unfortunately that Rietveld Uncut and the Rietveld Academie Studium Generale conference at the Stedelijk Museum are cancelled. We are considering alternative solutions.
Rietveld Uncut features projects by Rietveld Academie departments and students in relation to the theoretic framework of Studium Generale 2020, researching 'Relating (to) Colour'. Rietveld Uncut can be visited during regular opening hours of the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam. A festive celebration of the exhibition takes place on Friday night 27 March 2020 from 19.00 until 22.00 hrs.
