The Gerrit Rietveld Academie offers one Bachelor's programme and four Master's programmes. The fulltime Bachelor's programme is made up of the Basicyear and 12 specialisations. All students complete a general formative year, before choosing one of these specialisations for in-depth study in one of the two specialisations.

The academy also offers a parttime Bachelor's programme, DOGtime, with two specialisations. The Foundation Course of the part-time Bachelor's programme takes two years to complete and is followed by three years of in-depth study. Once students have gained the Bachelor's degree (BA in Art & Design), they can go on to take a Master's degree, for example at the Sandberg Instituut, also part of the Rietveld Academie.

We currently offer four Master’s degree programmes: Master of Fine Arts, Master of Design, Master of Applied Art and Master of Interior Design. The Sandberg Instituut also offers a varying number of temporary Master's programmes focusing on specific social or artistic issues.

We run two preliminary programmes at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie. These include the Orientation Course, in which participants spend 25 Saturday afternoons taking classes at the academy. It enables participants to build up a portfolio and decide whether an art academy is right for them. Besides this, we provide a Preparatory Course that offers classes for three or four half-day sessions per week. On successful completion of the Preparatory Course, participants can transfer to the Basicyear.
