The advanced course of DOGtime Expanded Painting provides for an intensive, focussed, and deepening curriculum for each individual student. Main emphasis in the teaching and guidance offered, is the development of an individual vision and practice as an autonomous artist.  Doing (critical) research and doing studio-based work are kept in a challenging balance throughout the programme. Lecturers (artists, theorists, specialists) with a variety of backgrounds will supervise the development of each student in a critical yet constructive manner.  The leading principle of the curriculum is the further, extension, development and improvement of individual qualities, talents and ambitions, taken seriously in consideration against the backdrop of a rapidly changing world, and rapidly changing conditions and technics for making, understanding and mediating art.

Expanded Painting students are critical, open, curious and aware what goes on in the world.

Through the possibility to follow joined Expanded Painting en Unstable Media classes, cooperation and exchange of each other’s potential is encouraged. You will learn to work with different interpretations of practical, theoretical and technical realities and will establish a fruitful balance between theory and practice, between the stable and unstable, concept, subject and context.

DOGtime organises, every year in March, a mandatory excursion for the graduation students. It is an intensive week with meetings and visits gaining new insights and experiences which help to position themselves.

Expanded Painting students will have their joined class and studio/workspace located on the 7th floor of the Benthem Crouwel building with extended opening hours and a penthouse kitchen. The students have access to all workshops of the Rietveld Academie and can follow the Studium Generale programme.
