There are three buildings on the grounds of the Gerrit Rietveld Academie:

> the FedLev building (FL).

> the Benthem Crouwel building (BC) and

> the Rietveld building (RV)

Throughout the campus, within the buildings, black elliptical stickers have been placed on the floor to help you navigate. By standing in the centre of these ellipses, you can find the different departments, workshops, and facilities.

Basicyear

During the Open Day, one work by each student from the Basicyear will be exhibited. This work was chosen during their first assessments in December. These are works, exercises and experiments that all bear the students' personal signature. At the same time, all the works together show a cross-section of the Basicyear that demonstrates how many different media, techniques and assignments you get to work with during your first months at the academy. When visitors arrive on the third floor of the Rietveld building, they meet eight different groups and see eight different presentations. One group's works are presented by another group. In this way, the work is the central topic of conversation among the students, and between the department and visitors.
