Mona Mercier has won the Overduinprijs 2020 (Overduin Prize 2020) with her graduation work Geomax. This prize from the Henk en Ria Overduinfonds Foundation has been awarded annually since 1992 to a promising young artist. This is the fourth year in a row that the prize goes to a graduate from the Gerrit Rietveld Academie.

Mona Mercier developed a typeface (Geomax) and then explored new interpretations of it together with other artists and designers. Thus, this font did not become the final form to capture an idea, but rather the beginning. Het graduation work includes Geomax-based textiles, vases and furniture. The jury was impressed by the inspirational power of Geomax, and the diversity and flexible forms of the work.
