The Preparatory Course implies that besides the classes at the academy that take three hours each, you also need an average of four hours a week to finish and organise your work and prepare for assessments.

It is also important to keep in touch with art and design related events in and outside of Amsterdam and the Rietveld Academie and to maintain a dialogue with fellow participants. That will take up at least four hours per month.

In addition to the compulsory classes, there are introductions to the general workshops such as the wood workshop, printmaking workshop, letterpress workshop and the comupter workshop.

For above-mentioned reasons, we advise against studying at another institute simultaneously with the Preparatory Course as it is quite intensive and requires quite some time and commitment.
