The curriculum aims to provide students with an intensive introduction to numerous viewpoints, concepts and methods of thinking, working and presenting, by means of theoretical or subject-specific assignments followed by group or individual discussions.

The Propaedeutic phase is divided into 4 semesters over two years: 2 semesters focuses more on Unstable Media (UM) and the other two semesters on Expanded Painting (EP). Each semester concludes with a DOGtime evaluation report and a public group exhibition. DOGtime students have classes three nights a week from 6.45pm - 9.45pm.

DOGtime 1 (First propaedeutic year)

The first DOGtime year starts with two classes (both with a maximum of 20 students). In this course the emphasis is on cooperation, participation, exploration and experimentation. You will learn how to make clear choices and develop your artistic field. A lot of short time assignments will be given and group discussions will be held.

DOGtime 2 (Second propaedeutic year)

The focus of the second and final propaedeutic year is on, reflection and deepening your artistic development. Focussing on making independent and decisive choices.

After the propaedeutic years

After completion you will finish the propaedeutic phase of the study. After receiving a positive end-validation you are allowed to continue your study at the higher/advanced years of DOGtime (Expanded Painting or Unstable Media) or at one of the full-time programmes.

For first and second year students, DOGtime organises every year in February a mandatory excursion to a European city. During an intensive and inspiring five-day programme you will be immersed in the local art scene. In addition this is a good opportunity to get to know your fellow students and lecturers.
