RietveldTV is Gerrit Rietveld Academie’s monthly TV show. Hosted every last Saturday and Sunday at 10.40pm by AT5 and afterwards forever online on Vimeo. Every month an alumnus is invited to use the set audiovisual 12 minutes as a framework for the development of a new work.
Season 2024/2025
The season of RietveldTV of the academic year 24/25 was curated by the curatorial team: Saskia den Hartigh (DOGtime), Bjarke Fuglsbjerg (VAV), Lefteris Katsarakis (VAV), Sara Darle Olsson (Architectural Design).
RatveldTV: Two Truths and a Lie, explored the tension between fact and fiction. The project delved into how reality can be subtly constructed, questioning where truth ends and storytelling begins. It examined how the lens of a camera and editing the footage manipulate, stage, recontextualize and reemphasize the truth, creating a blend of authenticity and artifice. The “rat” in the title sneaks in as a playful symbol—an infiltrator hinting at hidden truths exposing what’s often overlooked. RatveldTV reflected on the artifice of media, unpacked the “real” in ways that reveal the seams of constructed reality, spotlighting the delicate balance between what’s in view and what remains hidden, and inviting contemplation on the slippery, shifting nature of truth. Ultimately, it questioned how we construct and edit reality, both in life and in film, and challenges the viewer to reconsider what is “real.”
