Dedicated to Becoming
(formerly known as DemocracyHell)
Text and Curation by Neta Asher Goshen

Whether through our systems of governance, omnipresent media sources, or our own self-inflicted volition, being perceived has never been so painstakingly pervasive. This condition generates a constant flux of moral, aesthetic, and epistemic value judgments, shaping not only how we are seen and understood but also how we observe—at both the highest degree and most minuscule levels.

Dedicated to Becoming was formed by each participant voting for the other, assigning each to another artist through a majority-rule process. This system generated connections of varying intimacy and distance—strangers, close friends, former lovers—highlighting the layered complexities of our relationships. In presenting this enclosed circuit of dedication(s), we aim to provoke reflections on the realities of collective influence. Each work examines the infrastructure between public and private, the intersections of care and violence, and the tensions between singularity and plurality.

This is more than a reaction to bureaucratic authoritarianism, it is a trial in committing to compassion, attentiveness, and mutuality—a sanctuary for belief amid the noise. Through these exchanges, we denounce a discourse of thinning bandwidths, instead seeking to learn and find tenderness in another’s arms.
