On Friday 14 April 2023, Rietveld alum Romina Koopman was awarded the Steenbergen Stipend 2022 for her project 'At The Other Side Of The Rabbit Hole'. With her project, Romina reflects on how the photographic medium - within the digital age - creates an ongoing and evolving truth.
The jury on 'At The Other Side Of The Rabbit Hole': "Koopman cleverly and convincingly manages to translate the abundance of images in our current society into a visualisation of the future."
The winner of the jury prize receives an incentive prize of €5,000 from the Steenbergen Foundation intended to support the young photographer's further development. Since its first edition in 1998, the Steenbergen Stipend has been accompanied by an exhibition of the nominees' work at the Nederlands Fotomuseum.
