Rietveld Mulch #2 - Mica Pan's Mulch

In Rietveld Mulch the Podcast we focus on life after graduation and ask artists, curators, collectives and others in the cultural field to share their Mulch with us.

In the 2nd episode Nina van Hartskamp talks with performance artist Mica Pan about her practice and life after being graduated from the Rietveld Academie in 2021.

How does Mica make a living with performance art? What’s it like to be a non-EU artist in the Netherlands? And what’s Mica’s Mulch/advice for others?

Mica was born in 1994 in Xiamen, China. She graduated cum laude from the Gerrit Rietveld Academie's Fine arts department in 2021, with her graduation works selected as part of the Rietveld Review(ed). Mica's site-specific performance practices involve the intense focus on space as a source to evoke imageries, actions, and mental states, often using minimalistic gestures and materials to compose a situation where she explores the viewer's role as an active participator. After graduation, she participates actively in the art field as a performance artist in Amsterdam and various cities in the Netherlands.
