Graduation work: ENGINE STALL
Thesis: OR HORROR - negotiating the body
“I don't care whether you live or die. I want to see you dance and I want to see you smile. I can't use you if you can't smile, I can't use you if you can't show, I can't use you if you can't sell.”
- Tony Moss, Showgirls (1995)
“But what had happened? What had led to this failure of governance over the movement of things, this breakdown in the forms of control that had been so well prepared and mapped and tested beforehand?”
- André Lepecki, Singularities (2016)
ENGINE STALL is a sculptural installation that deals with the conditions that create governable bodies, the spaces where bodies are disciplined into service, the ways in which functionality is maintained, and the possibilities to negotiate that control.
