| My work consists of drawing, painting, sculpture and hospitality. I am aiming to make an inviting environment that is a place for silliness and seriousness, working with bright colour and the hand made to build a world for my work to live in and for other people to visit. Most recently I have been working with the motif of the "Kent-ish potato" a cartoon potato character that I collaged onto a painting in 2022. "Kent-ish potato" has been a catalyst for other series of work in painting and sculpture such as "Dandy-ish" a series focusing on gestures and archetypes of British Gentlemen in London. Another is "Dinky Van Gogh" a painting project where I am getting to know the work of Vincent Van Gogh through making his work and finally "Putting Kent on the map" which is a shout out to the original home of the potato. This painting has invited itself in to the series and will invite itself to the graduation show too alongside an inflatable piece "Van" in collaboration with Pien Overing from a series of inflatable sculptures we have been making for the last 2 years titled road works the "Van" will act as a stand alone piece and as a support structure for both of our works in painting. |
