Take a Walk on the Wild Side
Fabulating Alternative Imaginaries in Art & Life
(...) It matters what stories tell stories. It matters what thoughts think thoughts. It matters what worlds make worlds (...)” – Donna Haraway
Gerrit Rietveld Academie and Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam invite you to 'take a walk on the wild side'. Rietveld Uncut and Studium Generale Rietveld Academie collaborate again on an extensive, artistic research trajectory in a four-day Conference-Festival and Exhibition at Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam.
Rietveld Uncut | Exhibition & Festive Friday Night
The Rietveld Uncut exhibition features artworks by students and departments in relation to the theoretic framework of Studium Generale, TAKE A WALK ON THE WILD SIDE | Fabulating Alternative Imaginaries in Art & Life.
A festive celebration with performances takes place on Friday Night (29 March) from 19.00 to 22.00. The other days the exhibition can be visited during the regular open hours of the Stedelijk Museum.
Studium Generale Rietveld Academie | Conference-Festival
You are invited to enter a space beyond current systems and structures of rule; to regard ‘fabulation’ – fabricating the real, or speculative fiction – as both an artistic, social and political capacity to produce or uncover visions, stories and histories that are radically discontinuous from official and dominant narratives about our lives and our living together. This year Studium Generale is curated by Kunstverein, Hypatia Vourloumis, Daniela K. Rosner, Tavia Nyong’o, who will each inaugurate a discursive and performative programme.
Talks, Readings, Presentations, Performances and Screenings by Alice Chauchat, Raimundas Malašauskas, Rosalind Nashashibi, Austin Redman, Isabel Lewis, Mark Buckeridge, Nwando Ebizie, Gayatri Gopinath, Malak Helmy (with Janine Armin), Monsur Mansoor, Amber Jamilla Musser, Sandra Ruiz, Jackie Wang, Shaowen Bardzell, Åsa Ståhl / Kristina Lindström, Priscilla Telmon / Vincent Moon, Sarah Sharma, Tina Campt, Jayna Brown, Luke Willis Thompson, Naima Ramos Chapman and Tiona Nekkia McCLodden.
