The Tourist Shop

We all have become accustomed to the idea of the souvenir shop, but during the years, the space that was once a clear reflection of our local culture has now become a tool for stereotyping and mass-consumerism.

The Tourist Shop attempts to bring back the local’s perspective by re-appropriating the souvenir shop’s interior and workings. Meet my cast of nine characters and let them guide you through a collection of products and stories.

The Tourist Shop is a representation of the city and its residents and should not solely be there for the tourist to consume. Therefore it invites other local creatives to partake in its activities and creates an environment for the local to play with. Ultimately culminating into a space that is fun for locals and tourists alike.
