Voor wankelen behoedt

Somewhere stands a barn without doors. For the duration of the graduation show, Bart has removed the doors of the oldest barn in his family's farm and installed them in the Rietveld. Moving these huge wooden structures with his brother and father, the doors have migrated across worlds. Like the farm itself, which has been forced to warp and adapt in the face of agricultural development, Bart's gesture simultaneously pulls these monumental objects beyond their casual remit whilst sharing and approaching his artistic practice with his family. New perspectives open up, inwards and outwards. The future of the farm remains unclear, but, on a good day, sun shines through the windows of the Rietveld and areas of the doors become visible for the first time in a hundred years.
