Call for applications: In search of a Garden Day Helper
The Garden Department is searching for one Rietveld or Sandberg student to help carry out two gardening days in the new semester (31 January and 25 February both days from 10-16h).
Together with one person from the Garden Department (Sophie Dandanell), the student-helper will help in the Garden during the two days, guiding other students and departments and helping out in maintenance of the space. Anyone who is interested can respond, however, we do have a preference for someone who already has some experience with gardening, preferably someone who has already participated in gardening with us before. It is a must to have a willingness to get dirty and care for the garden!
About the Garden Department
The Garden Department began as an idea and ambition in 2019, and shapeshifted for a number of years, though its desire has remained a constant: to grow a space for gardening and ecology at the centre of the Rietveld Academie & Sandberg Instituut.
Today, the Garden is flourishing at the centre of the Academie and serves as a hands-on classroom for students to explore and develop their artistic practice as a lived experience, in which one can try out things in and with the body, in concern with material conditions and the living world around us. The Garden Days are currently being supported by Urgent Ecologies.
What we can offer
● Hands-on knowledge on permaculture-gardening
● Two garden days of 6 hours each, 12 hours in total
● These hours will be compensated at the working student rate
We would like to receive a short motivation (max 200 words) why you would like to garden with us on January 5th the latest. Please send your proposal to garden.department@rietveldacademie.nl with Garden Day Helper in the subject line.
