We warmly invite you to join us on April 10th at De Nieuwe Anita for The Third Skin - a soirée hosted by RietveldTV* (for more information on RietveldTV and this season’s theme, scroll down).
The programme features current and former students from the Gerrit Rietveld Academie and unfolds around a screening of selected 12 minute episodes of the current season, as well as conversations with two of the filmmakers, Mingrui Jiang and Nanna Due, about their working process, the theme and life after Rietveld.
Berlin-based artist Nanna Due will activate her episode in the space with Spá Nail Day, an adaptation of her graduation performance in which visitors receive a nail design in exchange for sharing a prediction about the future.
We will also screen the trailer for the upcoming April episode by Margherita Soldati, and display her glass sculptures Digestors which are featured in the film.
Later in the evening Roya Hes will perform live on stage and there will be time to chat, sip and enjoy the set of DJ Serket afterwards.

*RietveldTV is Gerrit Rietveld Academie’s monthly TV show. Hosted every last Saturday and Sunday at 10.40pm by AT5 and afterwards forever online on Vimeo. Every month an alum is invited to use 12 minutes on local television as a framework to develop a new work. In 2023 a curatorial team consisting of four students from different departments and academic years was found through an open call and, together with an alum as coordinator, decided on a theme for the season and selected alums to invite as quest editors in chief for 8 episodes.
The theme of this season is The Third Skin. This rather open theme can be interpreted freely by the invited alum and is meant as a loose red thread that connects the season and the corresponding public programme. To the curatorial team, the theme speaks of shifting identities, an expansion beyond the material body and cracking one's own shell, blurring boundaries between the inner and the outer. Or it might evoke ideas about costume, clothes or camouflage.
