Minne Kersten was voted the public favourite of the Volkskrant Visual Arts Prize 2022 on Sunday 8 January 2023. Almost 2,000 visitors cast their votes for the public award since the exhibition opened at Stedelijk Museum Schiedam. Kersten wins a sum of 2,500 euros.
Kersten's winning work is called Constant Companion (2021). It shows how a raven wreaks havoc on its own in an installation created by the artist, the remnants of which are exhibited in the room beyond.
A year ago, Kersten also made an episode about the raven for RietveldTV, the monthly TV series on AT5. You can find this episode here.
Kersten graduated from the Gerrit Rietveld Academie - Department of Image & Language - in 2016. She was a participant in De Ateliers from 2018-2020.
The works by Kersten and the other nominees will be on display at the Stedelijk Museum Schiedam until 15 January 2023.
