Thesis: As Requested, I Made Eye Contact With The Truck. (Scripted Chaos: The Theatricality of Public Interactions)

'When faced with the complexities of any situation, I instinctively perceive it as a theatre play. Characters A and B, their nuanced body language, the palpable atmosphere, and the carefully constructed setting. They all play a role in framing what I perceive as a narrative, and thus allow me to understand it.
This interpretive approach extends into my observations of (public) spaces, transforming the city into a sprawling stage where urbanism is understood through the lens of performance.
 
This led me to question the value of chaos and confusion that can arise within these shared spaces. Between flux and uncertainty, the concept of maintenance is pivotal, not only as a practical chore of upkeep, but as a stance on order and continuity.
Maintenance as an intentional force that constantly, especially in Amsterdam, sustains functionality and keeps things as they are, as if time didn’t exist - yet also as reinforcing a structure and never questioning its grounds, using routine as an excuse.
 
The all-wood set is made of carefully reproduced elements from the outside, supporting the story of the Commuter. The use of real and fake wood is a nod to my appreciation of patched-up repairs, as a trace of maintenance.
