Accompanying the exhibition Flags of Wasted Lands currently at the Eight Cubic Meters gallery, the online talk “Storytelling, Mytho-politics and Future Geographies” will explore different methods of fiction, art and research.

Laura Dubourjal has invited two artists and researchers to discuss and present their approach and take on artistic research.

You are hereby invited to join an interactive tour of the eight cubic meters exhibition “Flags of Wasted Lands”, a series of thirteen embroideries focusing on the portrayal of ecological disasters directly linked to human presence. The project is an investigation on the current multi-layered complex climate regime and its direct visible consequences on Earth.

Followed by a presentation of Sara-Lot van Uum’s current research on the notion of Mytho-Politics to bring to the forth the ways in which research-led artistic expressions open up sites of political contestation through pointing out to the role of myth and mythical narratives in today’s ecological crisis.

Finally, Andrea Knezović will introduce her artistic research methods and practice which investigate the notions of shame, fabulation, identity rites and value protection by examining her recent work and solo show Dialectic of Value . Knezović will also introduce her current research project that plays with the idea of speculative fiction as a forensic method that probes the future imagination of cultural institutional practices.

The presentations will be followed by a Q&A in the form of a collective discussion between the audience and the three artists.
