Red oak reconstruction
In this advanced tech world, everyone is a specialist or artist. My recent work is a play with the incommensurability of the mathematical and the organic, of the comprehensible and the tangible. Red oak reconstruction is the recreation of a tree my great grandfather planted exactly a century ago. The work is an attempt to technologically control the capricious qualities of wood and memory, with advanced CAD software and the almost extinct craft of steam bending.
