Thesis: Mine, yours , ours
In the search for twisted enchantment in the everyday and its encounters with organic and non-organic matter, Marin Kessler assembles a three-part installation that negotiates what is won and what is lost in that process. Misty and dreamy environments are countered by the cost of awe overall—if any—and its contributing importance within our draining realities. Thus, responsibility is shared between three interchanging subjects—the work, the author, and the viewer—each aspect of the installation alternating who is accountable for the above and what is at stake in each case.
Balancing between a carefully choreographed itinerary of experiences and an unanticipated reaction on behalf of the receiver, the installation turns a spotlight on the state of being struck by anything extraordinary that lives within the surroundings and the domestic.
