Annahita Asgari deals with video in a performative way. The protagonist in her work shifts from camera to audience to performer. The camera becomes the eye that guides your vision. When it shifts in and out of focus, it feels like your eyes need to adapt to the overwhelming and surreal landscape that is being revealed. And when, in another work, the performer walks out of the static frame, you are left to imagine what happens until she shows up again. The power of the camera is constantly present, whilst never dominating. Asgari researches the subtle interaction between camera, performer and audience, highlighting the performative capacities of all three.
