GRADUATION SHOW 2021
The Graduation Show 2021 takes place at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie buildings from 7 until 11 July 2021.
The Graduation Show 2021 presents the work of around 170 graduates from all over the world. They have completed their four to five year Bachelor Fine Arts & Design at one of the fourteen departments. The exhibition marks both the end of their study and the start of a professional career.
Due to Covid-19 measures, it is necessary to book your time slot for a specific date and start time in advance. Time slots for these public opening days are available online in our webshop.
As we are (almost) sold out, we would kindly yet urgently request everybody who has extra tickets and can’t make use of these, to please inform us on rsvp[at]rietveldacademie.nl! We could then cancel the ticket(s) and make somebody else happy.
Simultaneously with the Rietveld Academie Graduation Show, graduates of Sandberg Instituut Main Department Fine Arts and Temporary Programme Approaching Language show their work. The booked time slot gives access to both shows.

Rietveld Review(ed) 2021
Rietveld Review(ed) is part of the Graduation Show’s peripheral programming. An independent, external committee was asked to reflect on the Graduation Show as a whole and to signal current tendencies and themes within the exhibition. The committee was also asked to select a number of projects by graduating students that support these observations. The reflections and observations are processed by the Rietveld Academie into this reflection report. The report also includes the observations of the thesis committee. More information and PDF.
Fashion Show 2021
The Rietveld Academie Fashion Show is the annual presentation of the fashion department of Amsterdam’s Gerrit Rietveld Academie. In 2021, the fashion department continues its experimentation with alternative presentation forms that fit the various graduation projects by individual students. More here.
Opening Graduation Show 2021
A live online opening of the show with a performance by Passengers, strangers & snakes; peeches by Annelies van Eenennaam and Ben Zegers (Board members); speech by Wayne Modest (Supervisory Board member), and concluding with a performance by Global Charming. Watch it here
Measures
would like to share the measures with you. Please read the following information carefully:
> Access is only provided at the time of your booked time slot, so please make sure to arrive on time – to ensure a good flow we ask you to arrive not too late but not too early either;
> We recommend coming by foot, bike or public transport, as the academy does not provide parking spaces;
> Our entrance is at the Fred Roeskestraat 96, this is the only entrance where we can scan your ticket;
> There will be no cloakroom at the academy;
> We follow the current measures as indicated by the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM). We will make it possible to disinfect your hands upon arrival, please cough/sneeze into your elbow;
> Keep a safe distance of 1.5m to other visitors at all times;
> It is mandatory to wear a face mask;
> It isn’t allowed to smoke on our premises
Photography
Please be aware, when you enter the Graduation Show 2021 you will be entering an area where photography, video, and audio recording may occur. If you do not wish to have your image or audio recorded for distribution, please make your wishes known in advance to the photographer/videographer or contact the Gerrit Rietveld Academie at public[at]rietveldacademie.nl
Personal photos and video recordings generally are permitted inside the buildings. Flash photography is not permitted. If you require images for professional use, please email us at: public[at]rietveldacademie.nl
