Thesis: Can haptic perception in cinema be explored as a multi-sensory journey within the context of 'Falcon Lake’, informed by the theoretical framework and the filmic heritage of Stan Brakhage?
The film Sugnu Sicilianu by Lea Giordano is a road-trip through the Sicilian landscapes of her memory. An exploration experienced through the lens of a 16mm Bolex. She felt an urgency to revisit that place, a need to go back before she wouldn't recognise the island, and anyone who lives on it anymore. The people she used to know were already at an old age. The three different persons that are pictured are all experiencing grief, and this sense of loss enhances the idea of going back to a time in the past.
