Heavy hard, but worth it
Sculpture with textile and steel
Stephanie Rizaj (Fine Arts)
Stephanie Rizaj plays with the immediate language and connotations of material in installing backpack straps – designed to enable mobility and help people carry items – on a museum wall as degraded reminders of their own possibilities. Deprived of their original characteristics and attached to a most static and limiting element – a wall – Rizaj infers futile attempts and efforts without outcome.
