Swinging Limbs
The project “Swinging Limbs” is an experiment, consisting of one publication and two sculptural works, examining the concept of the body used as a material in graphic design. Xanthippe has been inspired by outdoor recreational spaces and an ancient Greek mythological creature, the Centaur. In this work, she has been combining imagery from existing architectural sites and bodily forms to create uncanny silhouettes in a sequence of editorial spreads. The work suggests a contemporary way of perceiving the human body by contradicting and altering its primary forms.
