Can we experience the present when our thoughts are in the past? 

Photographing unfamiliar city elements while contemplating the past, this project questions our own projections on temporality and reality in the creation of a new Anonymous City with its own atmosphere. This concern is furthered in the choice of photographing with expired film and isolating details, thus stripping the urban space of its own identity and blurring the relation between time and place.

Alize Wachto studies at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie, Photography Department. This series presents footage taken in the context of a class trip to Minsk with the Photography Department in May 2018.
